Awkward

Being a new mom at the preschool. No one recognizes you when you pick up your child so all of the workers give you a look that says "Who are you & why are you trying to steal one of our children?"

 

Eyelash curlers. I always end up either pinching the skin on my upper lid or grabbing some lower lashes in the mechanism ...resulting in some serious pain or unsightly lash kinks.

Running into a familiar {male} face at target with unmentionables at the top of your shopping basket. Why oh why didn't I bury those at the bottom of my stack just in case??

Awesome

Barbeque Pop Chips. Low cal and delicious? Yes please.

Turbo Kickboxing class at 24 hour fitness...Definitely some awkward moments in there, but this class kicks my arse.

Any little outfits with ears. I should have birthed a baby bear :)

And lastly...finding my hubby and son simultaneously working away on their computers..they are just soooo busy :)

Awkward:

The "Great Hair Fallout" -  thank you post pregnancy hormones. How is there seriously any left on my head?

The "Great Hair Regrowth" - Those little baby hairs cannot be tamed.

When you strike up a convo with a stranger and she asks "Is the baby yours?" and after you say "Yes" {proudly}, you stare at her expectantly for the next logical response: "Oh, she is just adorable", but instead you get silence. Hellloooo, are we not staring at the same beautiful face??

Awesome:

Tax Returns. I know that a financially savvy person will withhold the right amount so that they aren't providing the government interest free loans, but I just love getting that lump payback in March!

Charming Charlies...Yes, I will take 100 pairs of earrings for a nickel! {okay, slight exaggeration, but definitely a great value!}

The hair bun. Who can be bothered with spending 30 minutes on the perfect blowout while the morning traffic is piling up with every passing moment???

“Your baby is so cute! How old is he?” … Well, SHE is 3 months old. Yes, she is bald and chubby J

When your neighbors stop by unexpectedly at 4pm and you are still in your pajamas enjoying a “Say Yes to the Dress” marathon.

Getting a massage and realizing half way through that you forgot to shave your legs.

Awesome:

Getting to drink all the caffeine I want without worrying about it passing through to my baby!

Fall decorations and smells. It’s second only to Christmas décor!

Awkward

Having to pray with every sneeze, cough or laugh that I don’t pee my pants. Really??

Reading cards while people are staring at you waiting expectantly for your reaction…especially if it’s a mushy one.

The noise/grunting sound I make every time I have to bend over to grab something. I don’t even realize it until I’ve gotten back up & get weird stares from everyone around me…followed by “you ok?”

Awesome

Crushed Ice! Bad for the teeth, good for the soul

Considerate people. We were on the boat heading over to Catalina and a super awesome couple graciously offered us a couple of seats next to them since they could tell I was uncomfortable standing in the cabin. We chatted with them the whole ride over, which made the hour and 15 minute trek feel like 5 minutes!

Gift cards. Not only do you get to open a present, but then you get to go shopping! It’s like two gifts in one!

Awkward:

When the checkout clerk at Vons keeps staring at your protruding belly and then finally asks “Is your belly button pierced?” Nope, but thanks for noticing my preggo outtie.

Having dinner guests over and when you finally announce “Dinner’s ready, come and get it!” no one budges. That excited about my cooking are we?

Office/cubicle lingerers. The conversation is clearly over and yet these people are still standing at your office entrance staring awkwardly at you. “Big gulps huh? Wulp, see ya later…”

Awesome:

InStyle’s virtual makeover tool. I took one of Jayden’s baby photos and turned him into Sarah Palin! Kinda weird…but fun.

Chili Cheese Fritos. My ultimate weakness.

Slipping into your PJ’s immediately upon returning home from work…aaaahhhhh relief J

Awkward & Awesome Thursday!

Awkward:

Having your waitress, a complete stranger, tell you all of her personal problems & complaints about her non-committal boyfriend as though you were her new BFF. So you feel compelled to offer some consolation & advice even though you couldn’t care less about her biological clock ticking away.

Trying to sleep on your side with a runny nose. So you jam tissues up both nostrils (hoping husband doesn’t lean over for a goodnight kiss) and breathe heavily through your mouth & pray you don’t drool on your pillow.

Getting a pedicure. All I want to do is read my US Weekly & enjoy my chair massage…not make forced small talk while my toe nails are being clipped.

Awesome:

Self serve frozen yogurt!!

80 degree weather…although it’s very hard to work when the beach is calling your name.

Feeling little baby kicks! There are so many awkward aspects of pregnancy, but this part is definitely awesome!!

Getting a new magazine in the mail. I am obsessed with magazines! The only problem is I get so excited that I race through them too fast and then I have to wait a whole month before getting another one.
